Mary Pappert School of Music Duquesne University

Whether your interests lie in performance, technology, education or therapy, the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University has the faculty and resources to prepare you for your future career.  At Duquesne, we are educating the musical leaders of the twenty first century through challenging music degree programs for the mind, heart, and spirit. Our University motto, Spiritus est qui vivificat, It is the Spirit Who Gives Life, inspires our classrooms, rehearsals, and concert venues.

Students study with professors who are internationally acclaimed in their fields; including 25 members of the celebrated Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.  In addition, comprehensive musicianship training and performance opportunities in large ensembles and chamber groups are readily available for all music majors, regardless of their degree track.

The Mary Pappert School of Music is an All Steinway School with 68 Steinway pianos.  Every student enjoys access to over 60 practice/rehearsal spaces and state of the art performance halls and recording studios.  U.S. News & World Report’s ranking of America’s Best Colleges placed Duquesne University in the top tier and The Princeton Review’s 373 Best Colleges selected Duquesne as a top college nationwide, best in the northeast; specifically mentioning the music school faculty.

Graduates of our school serve in respected leadership positions in a broad array of musical settings.  Our distinguished faculty and talented students perform over two hundred concerts on campus every year, with numerous tours, broadcasts, and recordings that reach a worldwide audience.
