WSU Department of Music is proud to offer its students the unique opportunity to study and develop their skills and disciplines in the rich urban cultural setting that is Midtown Detroit. Students can immerse themselves in Detroit’s cultural center with access to the resources of such premiere institutions as the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Detroit Opera House, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. We take pride in providing students, like yourself, the unique experience of living, learning and performing in such a vibrant city landscape.
Our faculty, including nationally and internationally-recognized performing artists, composers, scholars, and master teachers, serve our student body of #CreativeWarriors. WSU Department of Music faculty regularly perform with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Michigan Opera Theatre, the Detroit Jazz Festival, and numerous other regional, national and international opera, chamber, jazz, orchestra and band organizations.
