Thank you for considering Wichita State University’s School of Music! Due to the unprecedented circumstances caused by the spread of COVID-19, we will not be holding in-person auditions for the next several months. In an attempt to allow students to join our program in Fall 2020, the School of Music will be accepting video auditions through August. Please see our website for more information.
As part of Kansas’ only comprehensive college of fine arts, Wichita State University School of Music delivers the limitless opportunities and resources students need to become tomorrow’s musical innovators.
With its seasoned faculty, year-round performance opportunities in band, jazz, orchestra, opera, choir, and music theatre, and access to the state’s largest ready-made audience, Wichita State has what it takes to put you on the path toward musical mastery.
Whether your passion is for music education, music performance, audio production, pedagogy, history/literature, conducting, or theory/composition — our programs give you the skills and knowledge to transform from a good musician into a great musician, in whatever emphasis you choose.
In addition to a high-quality education, the cost of Wichita State University can’t be beat. Our tuition is the lowest in the state. Often, for out-of-state residents, our non-resident tuition is lower than your state’s resident tuition. The Shocker City Partnership grants resident tuition rates to students from specific metropolitan areas in Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas, making the cost of attending Wichita State significantly less than out-of-state tuition. Undergraduate students enrolled in 15 credit hours per semester would save more than $8,950 per year in tuition and fees, compared to nonresident tuition rates. Shocker City Partnership is also available to graduate students
