One of our readers kindly provided the following:
This is an excellent article about options in career choices and therapeutic uses of music. You list two training programs for therapeutic music training. Please be aware that the National Standards Board for Therapeutic Musicians (NSBTM.org) has accredited five excellent training programs for therapeutic musicians, all of which meet the accreditation standards of the NSBTM. In addition to the two you have listed, there are: the Clinical Musician Certification Program (CMCP) offered by Harp for Healing LLC, International Harp Therapy Program (IHTP), and the Healing Harp Certification Program. Links to all of these excellent training programs can be found on the NSBTM.org website. In fairness to all of the programs, I am asking you to consider posting a link to the NSBTM website, or mention all of the NSBTM accredited training programs in your article, rather than just the two that you do mention. Thank you for your consideration.

In reply to Heidi.

Click on the names of each program mentioned to learn more about them. Then, contact directly those that interest you. You’ll see that Bedside Harp is right outside of Philly. There is a Threshold Choir in Philly. And not too far away, in Boston, the Longy School of Music will be offering the MHTP training this summer.

Also, Temple University Boyer College offers an outstanding music therapy program. As someone trained in music, check out the Equivalency Program offered by Temple and other schools with music therapy programs. Temple’s is called the MMT program - Music Therapy/Combined Master’s Equivalency.

Feel free to let any of these programs know you’ve been referred by MajoringInMusic.com!
